“You saved our relationship! Thank you so much for your support and encouragement.”
Trust, intimacy and openness are at the heart of our closest relationships. When they become troubled we can be deeply affected, and our health and happiness can suffer. Our sense of self-worth and identity often rests on the strength of our relationships, so we can despair when they fail.
I have many years experience as a relationship therapist, and have managed Brighton & Hove Relate and its LGBT relationship therapy service. I provide a safe space to explore and resolve problems that cause conflict or distress in relationships.
I support people to deepen their understanding of themselves and the ways they relate to family, friends, colleagues and partners. I work with people to improve the ways they communicate, and develop trust and intimacy. Many of the problems experienced in forming and sustaining relationships are the product of unconscious expectations inherited from our families and environments. Relationship therapy can provide a space to reflect on relationship expectations, heal past hurts, and find new and more fulfilling ways of relating.
I offer counselling to people planning to marry or enter a civil partnership, to consider the decision they are making and tackle any difficulties they may be encountering. And I support people who are considering divorce, separation or dissolution of their civil partnership to explore their options, address their hurt and resentment, and begin to rebuild their lives.
Relationship therapy can enable you to overcome the challenges you are facing right now, and develop the skills and understanding to manage challenges that may come along in the future.
