Brighton LGBTQ+ Couples Counselling
Trust, intimacy and openness are at the heart of our closest relationships. When they become troubled we can be deeply affected, and our health and happiness can suffer. Our sense of self-worth and identity often rests on the strength of our relationships, so we can despair when they fail.
I have many years experience as a couples counsellor, and have managed Brighton & Hove Relate and its LGBT couples counselling service. I offer LGBTQ affirmative counselling in Brighton & Hove to lesbian, gay, bi, trans, non-binary and queer couples from diverse backgrounds. I work with a broad spectrum of LGBTQ lifestyles, and provide a safe space to explore and resolve problems that cause conflict or distress in relationships, including:-
How I work
I work with couples to improve communication, develop trust and intimacy, and deepen their understanding of themselves and each other. Many of the problems experienced in forming and sustaining relationships are the product of unconscious expectations inherited from our families and environments. Couples counselling can provide a space to reflect on relationship expectations, heal past hurts, and find new and more fulfilling ways of relating.
I also offer counselling to people planning to marry or enter a civil partnership, to consider the decisions they are making and tackle any difficulties they may be encountering. And I support people who are considering divorce, separation or dissolution of their civil partnership to explore their options, address their hurt and resentment, and begin to rebuild their lives.
Couples counselling can enable you to overcome the challenges you are facing right now, and develop the skills and understanding to manage challenges that may come along in the future.
My practice is in a peaceful setting with free parking, and is easily accessibly by bus and train (see map). I charge £65 a session and offer weekday and early evening appointments. Introductory sessions are usually available within a week.
The quality of the therapeutic relationship has been shown to be one of the most significant factors in the process of growth and healing, so it is important to find a counsellor or psychotherapist with whom you feel at ease. If you would like to have a chat before booking an initial session, please do get in touch, so that you can see if you feel comfortable talking with me and ask any questions you might have. You can contact me now via email or by calling me on 07811935806. I look forward to hearing from you.
